  • Palestinian journalist dies of wounds caused by Israeli gunfire: medics

Malaysian police on Wednesday released a photograph of one of two suspects in the killing of the Hamas rocket and drone expert, saying they have yet to identify the pair, who may still be in the country.

An image of one of the suspects was obtained after a high-powered motorcycle, believed to have been used as a getaway vehicle, was found abandoned near a lake in Danau Kota, Kuala Lumpur, about 2km from the scene of shooting.

"We believe the suspects are still in the country", he said. Israel has denied the claims.

Mohamad Fuzi said the killing appeared "very professionally done", but declined to comment on reports it was a Mossad operation or that it was carried out by trained assassins. Police said security video showed that the suspects had waited for him for nearly 20 minutes.

Since March 30, Palestinians have been staging rallies along Gaza border demanding the return of refugees to their towns and villages in historical Palestine from which they were driven in 1948 to make way for the new state of Israel.

Al-Batsh's body was released to his family on Wednesday and taken to a surau, or Islamic assembly building, where dozens of people mourned his death at a funeral ceremony.

The bodies of the two soldiers - Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul - are now being held by Hamas, along with two Israeli civilians, Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed, who entered Gaza of their own volition in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

Anwar Al-Agha said Al-Batsh's body will be returned to Gaza through the Egyptian border. But later its top leader accused Mossad of killing al-Batsh and threatened retaliation. Several Israeli Cabinet ministers welcomed the killing, regardless of who was responsible.

The Israel Defense Forces estimated that over 30,000 Palestinians were taking part in Hamas-encouraged "March of Return" demonstrations along the Gaza border, focused at six main protest sites where rioters threw firebombs and stones at troops, tried to bomb and breach the security fence, and burned tires.
