Jason Witten expects Dez Bryant to sign with Packers

Longtime Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, who recently retired for a job in ESPN's Monday Night Football booth, weighed in on his former teammate on a recent addition of The Adam Schefter Podcast. Witten did say he was mostly guessing, but considering how close Witten is to the situation, his guess is notable.

When the Dallas Cowboys waived Dez Bryant, the wide receiver was angry.

When asked about Dez Bryant and his future in the NFL, Jason Witten said he believes that he will have some "great opportunities".

"He's motivated and I think he's going to end up going to the Green Bay Packers", Witten said. Still, despite remaining open to the idea of considering Bryant, the Giants have showed very little interest to date. The Baltimore Ravens probably came closest to signing him, but Bryant reportedly turned them down. I still believe Dez can highpoint the football as good as any receiver in the National Football League.

Rodgers has never had any issues spreading the ball around, and even though the Packers are stacked offensively, Bryant could add to the high-volume attack.

Bryant would be a logical fit in Green Bay since the Packers released veteran wideout Jordy Nelson this offseason. Witten thinks Dez will be signing with another NFC team.

The Packers, meanwhile, may want to move forward with their young receiving corps and give them a chance to gel in offseason team activities (OTAs) with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

As for Jenkins - who was suspended for a game last season because he failed to return after the team's bye week - he has promised to be on better terms with management.

Bryant, who will be 30 in November, caught 69 passes for 838 yards and six touchdowns in 2017.

The Packers retained Davante Adams and Randall Cobb, and signed tight end Jimmy Graham, but Bryant's ability to pick up first downs and contribute in the red zone could be enticing to quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
