  • Though President Trump frequents his own Trump-branded golf courses regularly taking foreign leaders onto the green and to the clubs for meals the golf courses made him less money in his first year as President than before he took office

A person who police say was yelling "anti-Trump sentiment" was arrested early Friday after exchanging gunfire with officers within the foyer of a resort at a sprawling golf resort that the president owns close to Miami.

A man who was allegedly yelling "anti-Trump sentiment" was shot early on Friday after exchanging gunfire with police near President Donald Trump's Florida golf club, according to reports.

"This was a definite attempt to lure officers into the lobby of that hotel", Perez said.

Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez identified the suspect as 42-year-old Jonathan Oddi of Doral.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the police shooting, while Miami-Dade Police are looking into what led up to the incident.

One officer is in good condition after suffering injuries not related to firearms.

President Trump was not in the area at the time of the shooting.

"If not for the heroic efforts of the police officers that responded today, this individual would've caused a lot of harm", Perez said.

After Doral and Miami-Dade police officers arrived and encountered the gunman, shots were fired by officers from both agencies, striking the suspect multiple times. Police were preparing a search warrant to enter Oddi's house, Perez said.

"We don't know what his intentions were, longterm intentions", Perez said.

The President's son Eric Trump applauded Doral and Miami-Dade officers. Every day they keep our community safe. "We are not saying this is terrorism...we are not discounting anything at this point", he said.

Perez said the U.S. Secret Service was on the scene, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation was on the way, but that local police were in charge for the time being. According to CBS4 News in Miami.
