  • Bungie Wants to Self Publish New Games

Bungie today revealed plans for Destiny 2's second year, which includes a new expansion - Forsaken - for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC online shooter.

Destiny 2's first incarnation had static rolls for weapons - in other words, every weapon would always have the same stats - but Forsaken will bring back random stat rolls, allowing Destiny players to return to the loot-hunting compulsions for which the first game was known.

The original Destiny followed a similar trajectory. There, you'll fight a new group of enemies, the Scorn.

The expansion will take place in a new location in the Reef, and the story will task you with hunting down seven different Fallen barons.

Bungie said its partnership with NetEase won't affect its commitment to Destiny or its deal with Activision. The whole expansion will have a Western flavor. We do know that the expansion plus the annual pass will be $70, which is important because all of the previous expansions are required for year 2. Three shotguns? Fair enough. The Dreaming City is a attractive location that is the home of the Awoken, a place that hides dark secrets and the expansions endgame activities like the new Raid. Gambit is a new, hybrid four-vs-four mode that merges both player vs. enemy and player vs. player experiences into an epic battle. He added, "We can't wait to share Forsaken's new Gambit mode with our fans and offer them a new way to play that can be enjoyed competitively and cooperatively". Meanwhile, a new Collections menu will help you keep track of collectibles.

On top of that, nine new supers are being added.

Bungie has faced a lot of flak in recent years over its cooperation with publisher Activision in the Destiny series.

What's the difference? According to Bungie, these will focus more on gameplay content and less on cinematics. The Digital Deluxe Edition of Forsaken comes with the expansion, the Annual Pass, pre-order bonuses, and the Awoken Legend set. Activision confirms that Forsaken will have "highly anticipated changes and features such as a new weapon slot system, improvements to the mods system, and numerous other quality-of-life improvements".
