  • Japan seals historic win over 10-man Colombia

Fans of both Senegal and Japan would've been expected to celebrate their nations' wins at the 2018 FIFA World Cup by pouring out onto the streets in celebration.

"Despite that we came back in the second half, but with Japan having an extra player, it was very hard to recover possession".

The 2-1 victory was the first and only African win in the first round of matches, after Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria and Tunisia all lost their opening games.

The 13-year-old bird successfully predicted six out of seven results at the 2015 women's World Cup and five out of seven at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The princess, who is the first member of Japan's royal family to visit Russian Federation since 1916, watched the Samurai Blue beat Colombia in their World Cup opener and will attend Sunday's match against Senegal in Ekaterinburg.

Group H also features Poland and Senegal and is one of the more open of the tournament.

Meantime, Brazilian-born defender Thiago Cionek became the first Polish player to score an own-goal at a World Cup when he deflected a goal-bound effort into his own net to give Senegal a lead they never relinquished.

She has travelled to every World Cup to support Japan since 1998. Colombia's Juan Quintero equalized the score in the 39th minute while Japanese forward Yuya Osako secured Japan's 2-1 win in the 73rd minute.

Japan knocked off Colombia, becoming the first Asian team to beat a squad from South America in the tournament's history.

Sanchez said his teammates didn't say anything to him after the game, calling the team "united".

"We have enough players for replacement".

Group H, which played its opening matches Tuesday, proved unpredictable for viewers.

MOSCOW - It was a day of upsets in an underdog-friendly World Cup.

Just four minutes into the game, Colombia were reduced to 10 men as midfielder Carlos Sanchez was handed a red card -the first of the ongoing World Cup-for handling the ball inside the box.

As far as teams are concerned, David Ospina of Arsenal and Davinson Sanchez of Tottenham will be joining forces to guard the Colombia goal, while Chelsea's Radamel Falcao will lead the line.
