JARED LETO's JOKER Breaking Out Into His Own Movie

  • WB Developing Spin Off Movie for Jared Leto's Joker

Similarly, it emerged last August that Warner Bros is also developing a Joker origin story without Leto.

In addition to the Joker movie spinning off from Suicide Squad, WB recently announced Margot Robbie Harley Quinn flick, which looks to adapt in part Birds of Prey. Leto will both star in and executive produce the movie, which has yet to be titled, branching off from his (surprisingly) limited role in "Suicide Squad".

There's been no update on the proposed Gotham City Sirens movie being developed by original Suicide Squad director David Ayer, but he seems to have moved on after the announcement of Bright 2 from Netflix, where he'll re-team with actor Will Smith.

All of this Joker news is starting to get as confusing as Matt Reeves' The Batman.

Joaquin Phoenix is already set to play the Joker (reportedly) in that above-mentioned 1980's set origin film, but as it will be under what Variety is terming an "origins" banner, it will be firmly set outside of the continuity of the mainline DCU on film. Now, there's two Joker movies in development. Jared Leto is a played out actor who takes himself far too seriously, who I would be thrilled to not see except on rewatches of My So-Called Life.

Now, it appears that Jared Letos Joker will be getting his own movie. Mind you; if there is one thing we have learnt about Warner Bros and their DC Extended Universe, it's that they do not know when to stop flogging a dead horse. Plot details are under wraps, but the studio is looking to expand on the world created in Suicide Squad with new films tied into future installments of the property.
