  • Antoine Griezmann: Atletico Madrid forward to stay at La Liga club

The documentary, which ran for half an hour before the decision was announced, revealed that June 3rd was decision day for Griezmann, with Barcelona believed to be the leading contenders to sign him and yet he could not leave the club that gave him his chance to shine on the game's biggest stages.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital for well over 12 months, with a move to Manchester United highly anticipated last summer.

France global Griezmann yesterday announced he will stay at Atletico, snubbing a summer move to the Nou Camp.

The forward is now on global duty with France at the World Cup, and they get their campaign underway against Australia on Saturday.

Griezmann has netted 112 goals for Atletico during his four years at the club, but Barcelona have been persistent in their hunt, despite being reported to Federation Internationale de Football Association over an alleged illegal approach last December.

As we reported, the 27-year-old apparently recorded two versions of the video, one with him stating he was leaving for Barcelona and one confirming he was staying.

Griezmann detailed his struggles with making the life changing decision in the unprecedented documentary, showing phone conversations he had with his sister and agent Maud and his deliberations while visiting his horses.

"I went home very affected and my family too, I did not understand why they bust me".

But then came the decision on the show, accompanied by a timed tweet on his official Twitter account.
