Liverpool are closing in on a £70million deal for Lyon forward Nabil Fekir and hope to strike an agreement with his agent, who is due in Merseyside for talks today.

He told Le Progres: "I did not leave Marseille (this weekend), I am with my family".

Goal reported last week that Liverpool were ready to step up their pursuit of Fekir in a deal that could be worth £60 million (€69m/$80m).

Even still, it appears that manager Jurgen Klopp is going for "overkill", as French global Fekir looks set for an Anfield move this transfer window, just a medical to go.

Liverpool FC are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to assemble a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.

Fekir will feature for France at the World Cup this summer.

The German stopper committed two errors in the Champions League final which helped Real Madrid win the competition for the third consecutive time.

"I would be amazed if there are not other big clubs interested, but Liverpool are slowly making their way back not only to the top of the English game, but the top of the European game".

The Reds are also set to lose midfielder Emre Can, who has agreed a four-year deal with Juventus as a free agent, according to Sky Sports' sister channel in Italy.

Liverpool have already completed one signing this summer, with Fabinho joining from Monaco earlier this week. Fresh defensive options would likely spell the end of Daley Blind's career at United and The Sun reports Inter Milan has stepped up its interest in the Dutchman.
