"Even if we get 100% Republican votes in the Senate, we need 10 Democrat votes to get a much needed Immigration Bill - & the Dems are Obstructionists who won't give votes for political reasons & because they don't care about Crime coming from Border!"

USA president Donald Trump may have doomed the chances for a House Republican immigration bill after urging party lawmakers to abandon the compromise effort they have been working on for weeks, the media reported.

"Everybody is sensitive to what the president is saying", said Rep. Paul Cook, R-Calif., who's undecided on the immigration measure.

"I think the president's expressing his frustration that Democrats don't want to solve the problem while we do, and we're going to keep working to try to get it done", Scalise said. But after public outcry, President Donald Trump on Wednesday ordered that they be brought back together.

Avenatti, who has made headlines representing porn star Stormy Daniels in an unrelated lawsuit against Trump, said Merida-Galicia is among more than 60 immigrant parents he represents and 80 percent of them do not know where their children are.

Others, particularly conservative Republicans who don't support the immigration deal, said Trump's actions should come as no surprise.

To fellow Republicans, his message was to "stop wasting their time on Immigration" until after the November mid-term congressional elections.

The tweet by the president came a day after he signed a declaration halting his policy on separation of families, particularly minors and their parents who cross the border unlawfully. "Immigration must be based on merit - we need people who will help to Make America Great Again!"

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy says it's "important" that his chamber shows it's addressing the issue, which is an important one to voters.

Democratic lawmakers on Saturday said they aren't convinced the Trump administration had any real plan to reunite immigrant families caught along the southwest border, while demonstrators gathered to protest the separation of parents from their children by USA border authorities.

Lindsay Harris, an assistant professor of law at the University of the District of Columbia, said those with no credible fear could still see a judge, while those with such a fear could begin a long legal process that eventually could result in asylum and applying for a work permit.

But the central piece of Trump's attempts to counter-program against the despairing images at the border was to stand with the "angel families", as he did repeatedly during his presidential campaign, including at the 2016 Republican National Convention.

Trump's new message follows months of gridlock in Congress on immigration reform and his repeatedly blaming Democrats for the mess.

President Donald Trump says people who "invade" the US must immediately be sent back to their countries and not be given a court hearing.

At the event, Trump also bashed "the mayor of San Diego" for warning citizens about immigration agent raids. Doing so has been derisively called granting "amnesty" to those who entered the country illegally. In the past, DHS said, many parents have elected to be deported without their children.

The Trump administration announced plans in April to prosecute all immigrants caught along the southwest border with illegally entering the country.
