Twelve Thai boys and their soccer coach rescued from a flooded cave in Thailand are recovering well from the ordeal and will be discharged from hospital next week, health minister Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn said on Saturday.

The Philippines on Friday joined the worldwide community in rejoicing with Thailand after the daring rescue of 12 members of a boys soccer team and their coach in a flooded cave complex in the northern part of the country.

Thai rescuers vowed to take a "no risk" approach to freeing 12 boys and their football coach from a flooded cave, as fresh video emerged on July 4 showing the team in good spirits following their astonishing discovery nine days after going missing.

Meanwhile, the boys and their coach yesterday greeted the world for the first time from Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital in a video clip released by the Public Health Ministry.

The story of the entrapment of the boys and their coach in the cave and their dramatic rescue has captivated people around the world.

Ekapol has gained back weight quickly and is physically well, but he is the one psychiatrists are most concerned about protecting from any mental angst, according to Piyasakol.

All are expected to leave hospital on Thursday.

The boys, ages 11 to 16, and their 25-year-old coach had planned to explore the Tham Luang cave complex for about an hour after practice June 23. Two divers were needed to bring out each of the boys.

It was hard for the team to sleep on the ledge where they were stranded as it was so small, she said.

A hospital statement said that as the boys continue to recover, they remain susceptible to infectious disease.

The search and rescue teams sedated and transported them in stretchers underwater while navigating the flooded sections towards the exit.

Officials are specifically anxious about any possible mental duress suffered by the team's coach, 25-year-old Ekkapol "Ake" Chantawong, ABC News reported.

Mr Jewell said: "Our role was to help transport the boys under water through the cave to bring them out". I am very thank you for help me.

The pair are both members of the South and Mid Wales Cave Rescue Team.

Duangpetch Promtep, 13, said: "Thank you for all the moral support".

Doctors say they are in good health following the successful three-day operation which ended July 10 when teams of Thai Navy Seals and worldwide cave diving experts hauled the last five members of the team to safety.

The head of the rescue mission, Narongsak Osottanakorn, has stated that the world should remember him as the true hero of the 17-day operation.
