Like a vintage Rolls Royce, Federer cruised into the last eight for a mind-boggling 16th time with another imperious centre-court display at The All England Club.

In the first quarter-final, former world No.1, Noval Djokovic beat Kei Nishikori 6-3 3-6 6-2 6-2. the other quarterfinal matches are between Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin Del Potro, and Milos Raonic and John Isner. Federer managed to return a 134 miles per hour serve, but on his next stroke, he shanked a backhand.

Kevin Anderson has overturned a two-set deficit to defeat Roger Federer in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

The comeback was just beginning.

Anderson admitted he was "unsettled" in the opening exchanges, but though two sets down, with his serve under-par, Anderson then re-tuned and started to cause Federer all sorts of trouble, both with his serve and from the baseline.

Federer had not dropped a set in his serene run through to the last eight at the All England Club, and the defending champion appeared poised for a relatively routine win when he went match point up in the third set.

"In the fifth set it was so hard to stop him", said Nadal.

It was the biggest shock in a tournament already brimming with surprises, especially as Joahannesburg-born Anderson had not even won a set in their four previous meetings. But there was more.

Federer had been the favourite to win a record-extending ninth men's singles title, but was beaten in a contest that lasted more than four hours. Coming back from having a child and what she's accomplishing, it's incredible. "I feel like I'm peaking at the right moment", said Djokovic, who booked a place in a Grand Slam semi for the first time since the 2016 U.S. Open.

Anderson was the runner-up to Nadal at last year's U.S. Open, but he never made it beyond the fourth round at Wimbledon until this week.

Xasa hailed Anderson as a true ambassador of the country after he pulled off one of Wimbledon's biggest upsets on Wednesday beating Roger Federer to advance to the semi-finals.

As the fifth set became as much a test of mental strength as anything, from 4-all to 6-all to 8-all to 10-all, Anderson stayed steady.

He moved into a 3-0 lead and, after Federer wiped out that advantage in the fifth game and levelled at 3-3 in the next, blew another break point in the seventh.

"You always tend to play better against better players and I'm happy to be back in the second week of Wimbledon". That earned a code violation from chair umpire Carlos Ramos.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion, who turns 37 next month, says he plans to return to SW19 next year.

Djokovic, seeded 12th, incurred a warning for throwing his racket and was clearly frustrated, complaining of "double standards" when Nishikori was not punished for a racket throw.

"I think I remember the point pretty well".

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

It will be Djokovic's first semifinal at a major since the 2016 French Open when he completed the career Grand Slam. "I guess in the end I was right". "I don't want to stop here. It's one of those average days when you have to try to win the match, and I just couldn't get it done".

He'll have to get past Nadal first.
