Subasic suffered a tight hamstring towards the end of Croatia's quarter-final win over hosts Russian Federation and was unable to take goal-kicks before the tie went to penalties.

The national team's unexpected run to the quarterfinals sparked a surge of support from fans who had been mostly indifferent before the World Cup started.

After finishing second to Argentina in Group H following victories over Jamaica and Japan, World Cup debutants Croatia claimed some impressive scalps on their way to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, former Leicester striker Andrej Kramaric aims to make up for flopping with the Foxes by helping Croatia knock England out of the World Cup.

"England play a little different than previously, attacking-minded and attractive", he said.

Classy midfield operator Modric has plenty of experience of English football having played in the Premier League for Spurs between 2008-2012, before moving to Real Madrid where he has won four Champions League titles in the last five seasons.

"That will help us, but the chances are 50-50, I believe, because everybody deserves to be at the semi-final".

"I was concentrated throughout but after Rakitic's penalty, it came bursting out of me".

"We have already accomplished something but this team can do more", he said.

Nicknamed "the Fiery Ones", that team has stood as an example to their successors ever since.

Belgium's so-called golden generation has finally turned potential into concrete results by reaching the last four of the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

The European Championship campaign, led by Steve McClaren saw England lose 2-0 in Zagreb and then famously slump to defeat at Wembley in 2007 to miss out on the Euros the following year.

"We've worked hard on getting to know each other off the pitch and creating that togetherness and understanding with each other", added Stones. Didier Deschamps' side are priced at just 1.72 to progress, and you can back them at 2.55 to beat Belgium by the end of normal time. "It is so special to do something with the national team", he said.

Sergei Ignashevich, who said on Saturday he was finishing his sports career, thanked the fans, saying, "My biggest thanks to you all and each one of you personally".
