Alisson to debut for Liverpool against Napoli

  • EPL: Why Alisson refused to take Liverpool's No.1 shirt from Karius

Liverpool's new goalkeeper, Alisson has rejected the opportunity to take Loris Karius' No.1 shirt at the club.

Liverpool are undefeated so far in pre-season, beating both Manchester clubs during the International Champions Cup in the United States of America, and have spent approaching £200m on new signings as they look to close the gap on last season's Premier League champions Manchester City.

There is no doubt Karius was disappointed by the arrival of the Brazilian, but the wonderful gesture is sure to soften the blow for the now second-choice goalkeeper.

In Liverpool's penultimate preseason friendly, Alisson will face a side from the league that he just came from in Napoli.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino made their first appearances in a Liverpool shirt since playing at the World Cup in Russian Federation.

The 25-year-old made sure to acknowledge his new supporters by waving back and thanking them for their backing.

Liverpool's new goalkeeper Alisson Becker has already shown glimpses of why Jurgen Klopp went against his better judgement and paid £65m to bring him to Anfield.

Milner had put the Reds in front earlier in the game before Gini Wijnaldum doubled their lead.

Roberto Firmino could feature for Liverpool this weekend after returning for pre-season training.

It was a stroll for Liverpool from that point, but fans of the club still had plenty to be optimistic about.

Ragnar Klavan, Adam Lallana, Joel Matip, Marko Grujic and Danny Ings all missed out.

Whereas Firmino is fain to drop deep and leave space for Mane and Salah, Sturridge spends far longer facing the opposition goal. Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno, two players many expected to be on their way out of Anfield this summer, took their goals very well when they came on after the break.

"The club will announce Alisson's permanent number in due course, and that of fellow summer signing Fabinho, who has provisionally been wearing no.3 in pre-season".
