Mr Markle sparked more outrage this weekend when he revealed he had slammed the phone down on Prince Harry after the Duke of Sussex confronted him about staging paparazzi photos for cash.
"Meghan loves Thomas and does want to maintain a relationship with him in the long run", a source explains.
Thomas Markle made the case in his first TV interview after Meghan and Harry's wedding as to why he felt the need to speak out.
Mr Markle, 74, made global headlines in May when he pulled out of walking his daughter down the aisle days before her wedding at Windsor, blaming a heart attack.
Another aide said that Kensington Palace should have personally visited Markle to prepare him for the media before the royal wedding.
In an explosive interview from earlier today (August 12), Thomas Markle confessed that he lied to Prince Harry about collaborating with a photographer to pose for the now-infamous photo shoot, which includes a photo of him being fitted for a wedding suit.
At the time, Mr Markle was in the hospital recovering from a heart attack and it had been revealed that he had staged a series of photographs for a paparazzo. "They took pictures of me buying a toilet and making a big deal out of it/, so I thought this would be a nice way of improving my look". "Doria is horrified by the way Thomas has been acting", a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY, adding that she's even tried to call Thomas to see if she could talk some sense into him.
Shortly after that interview, Thomas did yet another interview and delved into detail about a phone call with the prince, saying he was "rude" to him, but admitted it was "absolutely right" to call him out on the quick cash grab. "I would be encouraging her to say to him, 'Daddy, you are part of the family, come and meet everyone and we will put something in place for you'". "[He said] it would end in tears".
Prince Harry, 33, and Meghan Markle, 37, have previously spoken about how they hope to start a royal brood - but they may be putting any baby plans on hold for "practical reasons".
"I'm not mad at Harry".
