On Thursday, investigators once again searched fields and ditches near Brooklyn, Iowa, where the 20-year-old vanished more than two weeks ago.

Laura Calderwood said during a news conference that she believes her daughter, 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts, is alive but has potentially been kidnapped.

Iowa authorities were mum Friday on details of their investigation into missing college student Mollie Tibbetts - but said they have a "solid timeline" of her disappearance.

Yesterday, the reward for information leading to Tibbetts' safe return increased to $30,000.

The original version of this story misstated the first name of the missing Iowa student.

The couple chatted via text messages and social media on July 18, just before Tibbetts went out for her evening run which, Jack said, was her regular routine.

More than 40 investigators are now working on the case to find Tibbetts, and they have received over 200 tips that they are following up on, authorities said.

As search crews continue looking for any trace of Tibbetts in rural Brooklyn, IA, her family is begging people with information to come forward.

On Thursday, her family and Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa held a news conference to announce the fund has so far raised $172,000.

Family members have told local news outlets that it would be out of character for Mollie to disappear on her own.

"It's one thing to say, 'You know what, call us and we'll protect your identity, won't tell anybody". Initially, they said she was wearing a black sports top - but now say the top was pink.

WQAD's fellow ABC affiliate KCRG in Cedar Rapids is reporting a heavy law-enforcement presence on a rural stretch of highway in Poweshiek County that could be related to the disappearance of Mollie Tibbetts.

"It is our greatest hope that if someone has her, that they would just release her, and claim that money we have raised for her freedom", Calderwood said. "And Mollie was an incredibly strong young woman and I don't know that I have the strength in me and Mollie is lending me her strength every day and every night", she said.
