  • Chelsea beats Arsenal 3-2 for 2nd straight win in EPL

Maurizio Sarri admitted that Chelsea are not yet at the level of Premier League title challengers despite beating Arsenal 3-2 at Stamford Bridge to continue their flawless start to the new season.

Goals from Pedro Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata gave Chelsea a deserved 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes of Saturday's London derby against Arsenal, with the Blues completely in control as they repeatedly carved open their opponents at will.

Arsenal showed character to respond before half-time after Henrikh Mkhitaryan halved the deficit before Iwobi levelled with a clinical finish high into the roof of the net.

Chelsea's new coach Maurizio Sarri has offered mixed assessments of Morata's performances since taking charge in July, admitting in preseason that he was still waiting to see the best version of his first-choice striker.

Chelsea have won both of their Premier League games under Sarri, but were well beaten against Manchester City in the Community Shield.

He said: "We are not title challengers, not in this moment".

"In terms of quality not too much [more is needed], because in the first 25 minutes we did really very well", Sarri continued.

"I want to, not for all the haters, but for me and for Chelsea".

In what it labels "showdown talks", The Sun say Loftus-Cheek will ask boss Maurizio Sarri to loan him out if he is not going to play regularly at Stamford Bridge. We can sell but we cannot sign players.

"The defensive phase is about the team". So I think we have to work and we need to improve. In that 15 minutes we were not able to do this.

"We are very happy because we deserved the victory".

Sarri was also probed on how the team is being shaped in his image, as he looks to get his side playing fast and attacking football.

However, Chelsea want Loftus-Cheek to stay and fight for his place despite the player being upset at being dropped from the squad. "I think after the first half, we came back in the second half very well and there are a lot of good things to take to the next game".

"It is better to be on the pitch than watching on the bench", said Hazard.
