The Twitter CEO will be facing the US Congress in another session separate from the hearing with Google and Facebook executives.

Twitter has denied Dorsey was involved in any of the decisions.

Referring to such companies, which include Facebook Inc and Twitter Inc, Trump told the conservative news outlet in an interview conducted on Tuesday that "I think they already have" interfered in the November 6 election.

Google rejected requests to send its CEO Sundar Pichai or parent firm Alphabet chief Larry Page, but offered a writted statement from its chief legal officer Kent Walker. That scrutiny has led to additional criticism over the companies' respect for user privacy and whether conservatives are being censored.

Dorsey will follow the Senate hearing with another hearing that could be politically more contentious - an appearance before the House Energy and Commerce Committee that will specifically address Twitter's "algorithms and content moderation".

One chair will be occupied by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg while Twitter's CEO, Jack Dorsey will also be at the receiving end of some angry Republicans who claim the companies have shown evidence of bias against conservatives. Some Republicans, including President Trump, have pushed the idea ahead of the elections that Twitter is "shadow banning" some in the GOP because of the ways search results have appeared. Twitter denies that's happening.

"I'm disappointed Google decided against sending the right senior level executive", committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) said in his opening remarks.

The back-and-forth with Google is the latest in a year's worth of attempts by Congress to force the companies to focus more sharply on the Russian interference issue. Lawyers for Facebook, Google and Twitter were grilled by senators over the course of two days last October, after the extent of the Russian social media influence operation was revealed.

"We were too slow to spot this and too slow to act", Sandberg will say.

Earlier this year the company said it was taking aggressive measures to combat inauthentic accounts. He says Twitter has so far suspended 3,843 accounts the company believes are linked to the agency, and has seen recent activity.
