A man alleged the former House Of Cards actor assaulted him in West Hollywood in October 1992.

"The reporting party has declined to be interviewed by the investigating officer. Therefore, an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence is not warranted and the matter is declined".

Prosecutors in Los Angeles have said they will not file charges against Kevin Spacey over an alleged sexual assault in 1992 because too much time has passed. He strongly denied the allegation.

Prosecutors also declined to charge Anderson, best-known as the father in TV sitcom Black-ish, after a woman reported to police that she had been raped and sexually abused earlier this year by the actor.

The cases were reviewed by a task force established to evaluate sex abuse allegations in the entertainment industry in the wake of dozens of women accusing disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein and others of abuse.

According to the district attorney's office, the victim was not a minor at the time of the alleged crime.

Two years ago, California legislators enacted a law eliminating the previous 10-year-old statute of limitations for rape - the most serious of sex crimes - but that does not include offences before 2016.

Spacey's publicist in November said the two-time Oscar victor, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by more than a dozen men and boys, was "taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment".

Police in London are investigating six criminal cases against him.

Addressing the accusations, which were made last October, the Spacey released a statement explaining that he did not remember the alleged encounter but "if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour".

He was also sacked from Netflix's House Of Cards and edited out of Sir Ridley Scott's All The Money In The World.
