McIlroy fifth after putting woes as Bradley wins play-off — BMW Championship

  • Woods' 66 kept him within touch of the leaders on day three

Justin Rose hits his tee shot on the 18th hole during the third round of the BMW Championship golf tournament at Aronimink GC.

Keegan's father, Mark Bradley, has been with Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis for years.

Woods finished five under on the day and -17 overall, now putting him one stroke behind Xander Schauffele, two strokes behind Justin Rose and Billy Horschel and three behind leader Keegan Bradley. He's now ranked 66in the world.

Rose missed a four-foot putt that would have extended the play-off.

Bradley began the day three shots behind Rose but moved up the leaderboard with a six-under-par 64 as Rose shot a 67.

Rose, who last week finished two shots back as Bryson DeChambeau won the Dell Technologies Championship, is just the fourth Englishman to top the world rankings, after Sir Nick Faldo, Lee Westwood and Luke Donald.

American Xander Schauffele and Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy shared second place, with Schauffele a strong candidate to be named the final Ryder Cup team selection on Monday by USA captain Jim Furyk. He still was set for to be at the Tour Championship for the first time since 2013.

Tiger Woods, meanwhile was five shots behind after a 66 in the third round that didn't allow him to make up any ground on the lead.

Bob Harig reacts to Jordan Spieth missing the Tour Championship for the first time in his professional career. "I kind of fell of the radar there for a little while. It's tough to go from being on Ryder Cup teams, being on Presidents Cup teams to being outside the top 100 in the world". Because he didn't add to his schedule a tournament he had not played in the last four years, he is in violation of the PGA Tour's scheduling policy.

Early tee times on Sunday meant to beat the weather were continually pushed back all day, with the hope of getting in some number of holes late in the afternoon and Monday to complete the $9 million tournament at Aronimink Golf Club.

"It was about two years ago, maybe".

Against tough competition from top to bottom, and with a trip to the FedEx Cup finale on the line, Keegan Bradley didn't just contend - he defeated the very best the world has to offer, literally.

He had to rally for a 66 on Saturday, and while he was 11 shots out of the lead, another round would give him a chance to move back into the top 30, avoid violating a new policy and save the PGA Tour a headache.
