  • PlayStation Classic Mini games console REVEALED Sony PS1 retro games coming December

Indeed, it's Sony who is releasing its own retro console, the PlayStation Classic, a miniature replica of the console that put the company on the gaming map.

Not to be outdone by Nintendo's insanely popular NES and SNES Classic Edition retro consoles, Sony has announced the PlayStation Classic.

Get your money ready to hand over to Sony, fellow mid-90s gamers - the PlayStation Classic Console is coming out this December, for the cost of $99.99.

The lilliputian PlayStation is positively adorable; it's a teensy 45% the size of the original, with a working "Eject" button which, rather than opening the lid, switches game.

Nintendo has had huge success in the last two years by releasing scaled down versions of the NES and SNES consoles - both of which quickly sold out.

The NES Classic is the victor in terms of sheer volume, offering 30 games including such staples as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Castlevania, Mega Man 2, Punch Out and Tecmo Bowl. An AC adaptor is not included and will have to be purchased separately.

The mini console will also come with two wired controllers that you can enjoy getting in a tangle, as well as an HDMI cable. Most PlayStation games were created to work without them (sorry, "Ape Escape" fans, but without them it won't come to PlayStation Classic), so the list of titles that could round out the Classic's game library is long.

The console is now available for pre-order in Japan, Europe, the USA, and United Kingdom ahead of its release December 3. Missing, so far, are Gran Turismo, the system's best selling game during its lifespan; Tomb Raider, which became a national phenomenon with the PlayStation; and fan favorite Metal Gear Solid.
