The game has perhaps never seen a cricketer as consistent as Kohli.

Shai Hope scored an inspired unbeaten century and struck the final ball for a four to earn West Indies a nail-biting tie with India in the second one-day global, souring the day for milestone man Virat Kohli. At a time when his contemporaries are struggling to even play in all the three formats, Kohli is piling up runs across all the formats. It was the Indian skipper's second consecutive century against the Windies after his 140 run knock in the first ODI at Guwahati.

"If I were you, I would visit the bookstore and pick up the Oxford dictionary", Shastri had said after a Kohli century guided India to victory over South Africa in February. Just like the previous game, The right-handed had to come to the crease early again as Rohit Sharma was sent back by Kemar Roach for just 4.

He got to 10,000 runs with a single off spinner Ashley Nurse in his 213th ODI. He broke Sachin Tendulkar's record to become the fastest man to achieve this record.

Kohli became the fifth Indian and 10th Asian player to reach the landmark.

Kohli's journey has been awe-inspiring, from his first-class debut, winning the U-19 World Cup, captaining the Indian team, to rewriting batting records at will. However, should he continue at his current pace, Kohli - still only 29 - will surely surpass that number before the end of his career.
