  • Khabib Nurmagomedov looks on stern-faced at a pre-fight press conference before taking on Conor McGregor

It initially looked like McGregor would escape punishment following the melee which marred the main event of UFC 229 after the NSAC chose to give "The Notorious" his cheque but withhold payment from Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Three men from the Russian fighter's team entered the octagon and attacked McGregor following the bout.

On Saturday night, in the main event of the massive UFC 229 card, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov defended his title with a fourth-round submission win over former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ Conor McGregor. The event was marred by a post-fight melee touched off when Nurmagomedov leapt the cage and went after Dillon Danis, one of McGregor's teammates, at cageside.

Dos Anjos, watching like everyone else, posted on social media "This guy Dillan Dennis he is nobody, he just (expletive) Conor's balls and hide behind him, that's his job". I warned him. For me, discipline comes first. McGregor tweeted after the fight that he was "looking forward to the rematch", too.

White outlined the punishment he believes fits Nurmagomedov's actions.

The 30-year-old has completed just one fight in a recent six-fight deal with the UFC, and he has already expressed a desire to contest a rematch with Nurmagomedov. There were three arrests, UFC president Dana White said, yet no formal charges were made because McGregor decided against pursuing the case. However, White said neither fighter was blameless, and described McGregor as a "superstar". "We'll see how things play out".

American officials in Dublin also refused entry to a number of criminals who had failed to disclose their convictions and other details on their Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (Esta) applications for the US. He cited his issues with McGregor's rhetoric, as well as a prior incident in which McGregor attacked a bus belonging to his team in NY, when he offered a half-hearted apology for his actions in a post-fight press conference. He got over that thing quick and was going after one of Conor's cornermen. "I want to change the game, you can not talk about religion, about nationality".

Diaz recently claimed he has no interest in a third McGregor fight, saying he had "other s*** to do", but the right money could make him think otherwise. "We'll see. I don't know".
