Saudis considering plan to admit that Khashoggi was killed in consulate

"We are sadly and anxiously following the conflicting news regarding the fate of our father after losing contact with him two weeks ago, when he disappeared after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul", Khashoggi's family said in a statement published by The Washington Post.

CNN reported Monday, citing sources, that "Saudis are preparing a report that will acknowledge that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi's death was the result of an interrogation that went wrong, one that was meant to lead to his abduction from Turkey".
Turkish officials believe Mr Khashoggi was murdered by Saudi agents but Riyadh has always strongly denied this.
But late yesterday evening - after Turkish authorities placed high iron barriers in front of the consulate - a motorcade of six cars drew up and Turkish police and prosecutors entered the premises. Turkey's private DHA news agency said the Saudi consul's office was among the rooms searched.
