The Mega Millions jackpot beat its own record once again after no ticket matched all the six numbers in the drawing Tuesday night.

Mega Millions officials say no tickets matched all 6 numbers to claim the estimated $667 million grand prize in Tuesday night's drawing.

The next Mega Millions drawing is set for Friday night. The biggest Mega Millions jackpot won in 2018 was a $543 million jackpot. If some lucky person - or people - wins the huge jackpot, the grand prize will reset to $40 million.

The odds of winning a jackpot remain abysmal at 1 in 302 million for Mega Millions and 1 in 292.2 million for Powerball. The cash option is usually favored by the winners.

Those who opt for the annuity will get an immediate payment and then 29 annual payments, each 5 percent larger than the last. It is the largest jackpot in the game's history and the second largest in the US lottery jackpot history.

Mega Millions is a lottery that's available in 44 states, plus Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah, Alabama and MS do not participate. On April 22, 2005, a Port Huron couple, Ralph and Mary Stebbins, won $208 million playing Mega Millions. That distinction goes to the $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot in 2016 that was shared by three winners.
