Now that Democrat Abrams stands a good chance of pulling off an upset in a conservative stronghold state, Kemp may just want to have an excuse to contest the results should the election not tip in his favor.

Levin also said that his firm, CyberScout, has analyzed several states' election systems to look for weaknesses ranging from the accessibility of voter registration databases to the susceptibility of government websites to denial-of-service attacks.

The accusation emerged on Sunday amid reports that Georgia's election system, which Kemp oversees as secretary of state, is open to glaring vulnerabilities.

"This is yet another example of abuse of power by an unethical secretary of state", Rebecca DeHart, executive director of the Georgia Democratic Party, said on Sunday.

Kemp pushed back Monday against concerns that his call for an investigation is politically motivated. "You suddenly open an investigation without giving any sort of details about what happened?" The group of twenty voters-ten Abrams supporters and ten Kemp supporters-said that an ad featuring Abrams hosting a large family dinner at her house conveyed a sense of humanity and tradition.

Kemp came under fire this weekend following the release of a controversial statement to the press in which he accused the Democratic Party of Georgia of trying to hack a voter registration system.

The Georgia's governors race has been fraught with a race-laden debate over ballot access and voter suppression.

Days before elections, Georgia's Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp, who is running a close-fought campaign for governor, says Democrats are under investigation for hacking the state's election system.

One of the plaintiffs, Katharine Wilkinson, told CNN that she made a decision to join the suit because she believes that what Kemp is doing is illegal.

The latest poll: A WSB/Atlanta Journal Constitution poll out Friday showed Abrams with an extremely narrow lead over Kemp - 46.9 percent to 46.7 percent.

Kemp campaign robocall: "Radical Stacey Abrams is so extreme that she wants to allow illegal immigrants to vote in this election". But political experts tend to believe that Georgia is likely to become more Democratic due to changing demographics, particularly in the Atlanta area. The official declined to say if the agency was investigating.

Georgia's centrally managed elections system lacks a verifiable paper trail that can be audited in case of problems. They contend he has been lax on securing voter data and that his office previously improperly disclosed private information on six million Georgians.

Former US President Jimmy Carter, a Democrat, urged Kemp last month to step down from his election oversight role, saying keeping it while campaigning "runs counter to the most fundamental principle of democratic elections". It's hard to see what else they can do at that point other than wait for the demographics of the state and the country to change and pray that new voters will turn toward them eventually.
