  • A crane salvages the wreckage of a bus after it plunged off a bridge into the Yangtze River in China's southwestern Chongqing early on November 1

The bus had veered into the wrong lane and collided with an oncoming auto in Chongqing on Sunday before it plunged into the Yangtze River.

In the video, a female passenger approaches the driver, hitting him directly in the face with her phone.

Four passengers who got off the bus confirmed that a 48-year-old woman argued with the driver because she had missed her stop.

Police said they pieced together what happened based on footage from the on-board recorder, which was recovered by divers, as well as 2,300 hours of surveillance videos along the bus route and numerous witness accounts.

The video shows that they exchange more blows before the driver loses control of the bus, strikes a auto and careens through the four-lane bridge's railing into the Yangtze.

A search and rescue operation was launched on the Yangtze river near Chongqing in southwest China on October 28. It doesn't look as if the driver had time even to hit the brakes before the bus went off the bridge. The footage shows the fight between the driver and the woman.

"The behaviour of both the passenger and driver has severely endangered the safety of all other passengers and has violated the law, ' police said, adding the tragedy served as an 'extremely painful lesson". Thirteen bodies have been found and two remain missing, the official Xinhua news agency said. The driver, with one hand on the wheel, hits back.

Another video, taken from a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction, shows the bus swerving widely on the bridge and crashing through the barricades before its fatal plunge. This made the woman angry, so she advanced to the front of the bus and began yelling at him.
