Ohio State's Urban Meyer to retire after Rose Bowl

Urban Meyer and Ohio State held a press conference on Monday to announce that the coach will step down following the Rose Bowl, and there were several questions asked about whether Meyer intends to return to coaching at any point in the future. Now ranked No. 6, the Buckeyes will face Washington in the Rose Bowl.
It was Day who led the Buckeyes when Meyer was suspended before the season opener over his role in the handling of now-fired assistant Zach Smith, who was accused by his ex-wife of domestic abuse.
"I dreamt of it", Meyer said Sunday.
The Buckeyes coach has dealt for years with a congenital arachnoid cyst in his brain that causes what his doctor has called aggressive headaches.
Believe it or not, you can bet on whether Meyer will be the next Browns coach.
The university announced the move Tuesday. After spending some time at Florida, Meyer resigned, citing he wanted more time with his family and had recently suffered a health scare.
Both the 54-year-old Meyer's exit and Day's hiring are 180-degree opposites of the situation when Meyer was hired in 2011.
Meyer had a wildly successful run in Columbus, which he looks to culminate with a Rose Bowl victory.
Smith applauded Meyer's level of success - he has an 82-9 record in seven seasons - and impact at Ohio State. Perhaps just as important as all of that, Meyer never lost to MI.
Ohio State followed that with five straight wins, including a rout of archrival MI that gave the Buckeyes another division title and then pulled away for the easy win over Northwestern. He has not yet said of any plans for after retirement.
Kelly is now the head coach at UCLA.
One of Ohio State's biggest commitments in the 2019 class is ESPN 300 wide receiver Garrett Wilson, the 13th-ranked prospect overall out of Texas, who said that Day's openness and coaching style were things that drew him to the Buckeyes.
With a 186-32 record over 17 seasons, Meyer steps down with one of the best winning percentages in the history of college football. He lost star defensive end Nick Bosa to an early season-ending injury, and the Buckeyes' defense never fully recovered.
"I plan on coaching", he said on October 29. Being from Akron, Ohio, the man has always been a big-time Ohio State Buckeyes supporter. Second-guessing is an Olympic sport in Ohio State's fan base.
This question has dogged Ohio State fans for much of the season-and the talented redshirt sophomore bolting for the National Football League has looked increasingly likely over the course of the past month.
Meyer got into the football coaching scene after interning at a high school shortly after college. Meyer has about $38 million left on his contract.

The Seattle franchise had already secured deposits from 25,000 would-be season ticketholders as of last March, ESPN reported. Oshie was raised in Everett, Wash., just north of Seattle, and he didn't hesitate when asked what he would name the team.
The secondary did look a lot better against the Panthers, though, as they only gave up eight passing yards the entire game. To claim that a two-loss Georgia team is incomparably better than either Oklahoma or Ohio State (12-1) makes no sense.
