Leeds apologise to Derby over spy scandal

  • Leeds United players celebrate Jack Harrison's goal against Derby County

"I have a different point of view but the important thing is what Frank Lampard and Derby County think".

Impressive on the ball, Clarke paced himself superbly during the game as he looked to nail down a starting spot for the rest of the season, as having made a plethora of substitute performances this season he was finally given the chance from the off by Bielsa, and boy did he take it!

Derbyshire Police removed the man and no arrests were made. We had someone the day before we lost 4-1 against them. "Now Leeds can beat you 4-1 - they're a fantastic team - but we had someone in the bushes that day".

"The training stopped because the police came on the training ground, then it went away".

The six tweets in between expounded his arguments, where he elaborated on why he thought Bielsa and Leeds United were in the wrong. Although he commended Bielsa taking full responsibility for the fiasco, he claimed the disruption to his side was significant in the buildup to the game and that tactics should remain "sacred" to the training ground.

"So I think you look at all three of those games and you think, we can go away from home and play well and almost get a result against Chelsea and obviously win the other two games. We will make no further comment on this matter", the statement added.

"I would accept any sanction that the club takes against me, I would accept any sanction that the federation takes against me and I would accept the judgement of Derby County and Frank Lampard". Tottenham Hotspur's Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino, who played under Bielsa for Espanyol and the national team, was asked whether he would consider spying on opponents.

"I can explain my behaviour but I don't justify it because I have to respect the norms that are applied in the country I work in".

"No, no, but it's nothing wrong to try to find a bit more information about what the opposition is doing".

His public admission, in which he stated he has long used the practice of sending spies, has caused outrage across the length and breadth of the English football community, with some sections calling for a hefty penalty for the Argentinian. Here it maybe is a little bit weird but in Argentina it happened.

Enquiries will continue today (Friday) and the identity of the intruder will become clearer, as will if he has any links to Leeds or any other Championship clubs.
