  • Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez poses with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for a ceremonial swearing-in

A spokeswoman for the NY state Workers' Compensation Board, Melissa Stewart, said Friday that Ocasio-Cortez's Democratic campaign lacked coverage from March 31 to April 30.

"This coverage is vital to ensuring workers are protected for on-the-job injuries", she added.

Her campaign failed to carry comp on its employees for a month, resulting in a fine by the state Workers' Compensation Board, according to several news reports.

Some lawmakers who have working relationships with Ocasio-Cortez are hoping to coax her into using her huge platform to unite Democrats and turn her fire on Republicans, instead, Politico reported. "She doesn't understand how the place works yet".

Meanwhile, Politico ran an article today claiming "Exasperated Democrats try to rein in Ocasio-Cortez", for which AOC had yet another flawless response, not just shutting down the sentiment but also solidifying her nerd cred for the foreseeable future.

The 29-year-old, who shockingly bested incumbent New York Rep. Joe Crowley in a June Democratic congressional primary, was recently in the news for giving a wild response to President Donald Trump's Wednesday Oval Office address to the nation. I cannot even get laptops to my caseworkers in the Bronx and Queens so they can process the needs of our constituents.

Ocasio-Cortez, who describes herself as a "democratic socialist" has become the face of a new younger and more "woke" demographic focused on fixing systemic problems in the country.

"I think that there's a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right", she told host Anderson Cooper.

"Make no mistake, come January, in this committee the days of this committee weakening regulations and putting our economy once again at risk of another financial crisis will come to an end", she said in remarks that briefly roiled markets".
