  • The days of sharing Netflix passwords could be coming to an end

If you share your Netflix password with your friends then you'd better watch out - a dystopian new AI has been created to crack down on account sharing.

To avoid paying double, what people do is share the details of their account and passwords.

It was revealed by Synamedia at the event that nearly 26 percent of millennials share their Netflix account with others. What could happen to subscribers who share their Netflix and other streaming service account passwords to family and friends?

Netflix might finally be closing in on its users who share passwords.

The software allows an operator to specify how many users can use an account, and looks for likely fraud.

Fingers crossed we can stay watching on our ex's account for a little bit longer!

A London based company named Synamedia which intends to empower Pay TV operators and video streaming websites is planning to launch an AI-based service to crack down on password sharing. Many casual users will be happy to pay an additional fee for a premium, shared service with a greater number of concurrent users.

You'd better watch The Haunting of Hill House while you still have the chance.

The new system - called the Credentials Sharing Insight is now being trialed by a number of firms.

"Casual credentials sharing is becoming too expensive to ignore", said Racine.

The Credential Sharing Insight software is available as a cloud or on-premise offering. In the case of the latter, these users will be offered a premium shared account service that includes a pre-authorized level of password sharing and a higher number of concurrent users.

According to one survey, almost 26 percent of millennials use a password from someone else's account to binge-watch shows on an online streaming service.

The new platform will use artificial intelligence and machine learning and identify, monitor and analyze the pattern of password sharing.

'It's a great way to keep honest people honest while benefiting from an incremental revenue stream'.

Synamedia says its AI has already begun trials.
