The incredible stats behind Manchester United's win over Tottenham Hotspur

Fans and pundits have been heaping praise on David De Gea following his world class performance during Manchester United's 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley this evening.

United now had a lead to protect as Tottenham pushed for an equaliser in the second half and the hosts created a hat-full of chances, however, they failed to get past the in-form De Gea between the United sticks.

"This is the real Manchester United".

- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has equalled Matt Busby's all-time record of winning his first five league games in charge of Manchester United.

"I love playing big matches against the best players", he told Sky Sports.

De Gea made a string of superb saves to make it a sixth consecutive win for Solskjaer since taking charge.

Up against Mauricio Pochettino, the favourite to replace Jose Mourinho on a full-time basis at Old Trafford, Solskjaer's team played vibrant football and just about did enough in a match of many chances, with De Gea's display just as important as Marcus Rashford's third goal in as many games.

"We dominated in the first half but we didn't organise ourselves well when we lost Moussa Sissoko and that is how we conceded the goal". The French midfielder, who won United's Player of the Month award for December, has looked a completely different player since Solskjaer's arrival.

"I was feeling very well with the first two saves, it was a great game".

- Manchester United have kept back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League - they'd only kept two in their first 20 league matches this season. I don't even remember some of the saves so I can't pick a best.

Reports on Sunday suggested the England manager had been added to the Old Trafford shortlist amid concerns that Mauricio Pochettino could prove hard to prise away from Tottenham, should the Argentine want the job. "I wasn't happy with the performance after we won 3-0 there".
