  • The Bulls Waived Carmelo Anthony After Trading For Thunder Wing Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot

The Chicago Bulls have waived forward Carmelo Anthony, clearing the way for the 10-time All-Star to become a free agent.

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers remain a possibility for Anthony.

Friday afternoon, the Oklahoma City Thunder reportedly sent Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and cash to the Chicago Bulls.

In a corresponding move the Carmelo Anthony Era ended after 11 inauspicious days. Cash was included in the deal, as were the draft rights to Jon Diebler and Tadija Dragicevic. When the Rockets traded Melo to Chicago, multiple reports came out stating that the team had no intent on using him and would probably part ways with him shortly before the National Basketball Association trade deadline, which is this upcoming Thursday. In 10 games with the Rockets this season, Melo averaged a pedestrian 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in a career-low 29.4 minutes per night. He has not played since November 8. The last two seasons haven't been as nice, as his playing time went down a year ago when the Sixers began to win, and he was ironically dealt to Oklahoma City in the three-team Carmelo Anthony deal involving the Atlanta Hawks. The Bulls, technically, were his fourth franchise in seven months. At the time, a league source told ESPN he would not play a game with Chicago, but would instead be waived at some point.
