Members of Congress cheer after President Donald Trump acknowledges more women in Congress during his State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019.

So when Trump calls for "cooperation, compromise and the common good", the obvious reaction is, you first.

The stock market, meanwhile, is down more than 3 percent since Trump's last State of the Union address, due to uncertainty about Trump's trade policy. Trump's approval rating sank steadily during the shutdown, as opinion polls showed more Americans blamed him than Democrats for the impasse that resulted in 800,000 federal workers being furloughed or forced to work without pay.

The partial government shutdown began on December 21 because of disagreements over money to build a U.S. -Mexico border wall.

Abrams' selection by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was a nod to her rising political fortunes despite her defeat previous year.

On his foreign policy, which Trump described as "principled realism", the president confirmed that he would meet Democratic People's Republic of Korea leader Kim Jong Un in Vietnam in late February. He said the USA has "the hottest economy anywhere in the world". We must come together to develop the solutions needed to move our country forward and improve the lives of all Americans. Among the guests invited to sit with the first lady, Melania Trump, during the speech were three family members of a couple killed last month in their home in Reno, Nevada, allegedly by an immigrant in the USA illegally.

Mark Knoller, another White House reporter, also noted the missed introduction on Twitter. Shirley Chisholm, the first African American woman to be elected to Congress, wore white to be sworn in in 1969.

Bonnie Watson Coleman and Jimmy Gomez brought immigrants in the USA illegally who spoke out about their employment at Trump's resort in Bedminster, NJ.

"It was a speech that covered a lot of ground, but the challenge now is what actions will follow the President's words".

The summit could help break a deadlock in U.S. The two met last summer in Singapore, though that meeting only led to a vaguely worded commitment by the North to denuclearize. It also echoes the language Trump uses when talking about voter fraud.

Both actions mark a paradigm shift in American foreign policy, with Afghanistan being the site of the longest military conflict in USA history and Syria being home to a complicated fight that features forces like the Islamic State, Russia, Iran and U.S-backed Kurdish fighters.

"As a candidate for president, I pledged a new approach".

He said, "The only thing that can stop it are foolish wars, politics or ridiculous partisan investigations" an apparent swipe at the special counsel investigation into ties between Russian Federation and Trump's 2016 campaign. And Republicans like new Houston Rep. Dan Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL, have warned Trump against a complete withdrawal from Syria.
