Sunday is the start of daylight saving time which falls annually on the second Sunday of every March and lasts until the first Sunday of November.

Daylight Saving Time is coming to the United States this weekend when clocks spring forward one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 10.

That morning, most phones and computers will automatically jump an hour forward, and we'll lose an hour of sleep. But the shift to a permanent daylight-saving time plan isn't something states can decide for themselves: the measures require a green light from Congress in order to take effect, something both California and Florida have yet to receive. It became a thing again during World War II, and the United States made a decision to stick with it in 1966, though Hawaii and Arizona soon got rid of it.

Along with Washington and OR, the northwest USA states are working on legislation to stop the switch. Arizona and Hawaii don't observe DST, and neither do USA territories like Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and American Samoa. People also report feeling disoriented and unproductive.

Daylight Saving Time, compounded with Canadians' penchant for not getting enough sleep at night, can lead to "very important consequences" for your health if you do not adequately prepare yourself, sleep expert Dr. Julie Carrier says. During the 2018 midterm elections in California, 59.75% of voters said "Yes" on Proposition 7, which would all the state legislature to change the date and time of DST as consistent with federal law with a two-thirds vote. To save yourself any unnecessary stress and confusion on Sunday, before you go to bed Saturday night, set all your clocks ahead one hour-including the one in your vehicle if it doesn't change itself.

"There's more strokes, heart attacks that are associated with moving the clocks back and forth", Lucido said. Daylight saving was repealed the following year.

The study found positive effects in a number of industries but didn't go so far as to recommend making the change.

A 2016 study found evidence that the switch back to standard time in the fall is associated with a spike in diagnoses of depression. In most of Arizona, daylight saving time does not exist. "Reflecting the will of the state of Florida, I'm proud to reintroduce this bill to also make daylight saving time permanent nationally".
